Dordrecht, Netherlands – We are excited to announce that Safeway, a subsidiary of the Van Aalst Group, will provide its state-of-the-art motion-compensated walk-to-work gangway for the newly awarded Field Support Vessel, commissioned by Maersk Supply Service for Cenovus Energy’s White Rose Field project.

The 110-meter long DP3 vessel, currently being built by Crist S.A. in Gdynia, Poland, will be delivered in 2027. This vessel, designed by MMC Ship Design & Marine Consulting Ltd., will feature Safeway’s advanced gangway technology, ensuring safe and efficient personnel transfers under challenging offshore conditions.

Safeway’s gangway systems are renowned for their enhanced safety features, innovative design, and operational efficiency. Key features of the Safeway gangway include:

  • Motion Compensation Technology: The gangway allows year-round access to offshore installations with advanced roll compensation, enabling a safe and smooth transfer even in rough seas.
  • Hover Mode: This feature allows the gangway to maintain its position without physically connecting to offshore structures, reducing setup time and improving safety during transfers.
  • Increased Reach & Vertical Elevation: Safeway’s gangway offers extensive horizontal outreach and vertical flexibility, allowing personnel to safely walk to work at various landing points.
  • Walk-to-Work Efficiency: Safeway’s technology significantly reduces personnel transfer time, ensuring quicker and safer access for up to 164 passengers at a time.

This newbuild vessel will operate in the White Rose Field, an offshore oil field located in the harsh North Atlantic environment. The Safeway gangway’s ice-class certification and advanced safety systems will be essential in supporting this challenging project.

At Van Aalst Group, innovation and safety go hand in hand. With Safeway’s gangways already leading the way in offshore access solutions, this project is yet another milestone in our commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions for the offshore energy industry.
