Safeway gangways

Seagull

The Safeway Seagull type is developed for retrofitting on existing vessels and has been operational since early 2017. The unit is primarily used for our rental fleet
and it’s specific features such as
10m vertical
elevation range, hover mode, easy plug & play installation
makes it the ideal tool for offshore maintenance campaigns.

Osprey

The Safeway Osprey type is currently under construction for large construction vessels and is soon available for purchase. The unit is self-sustained with integrated HPU and controls. The gangway only requires the hook-up from the vessel power to operate at any random position on the vessel deck. The unit is furthermore designed with a vertical parking position minimising the amount of deck area required.

Safeway vs Helicopter

The challenge with helicopters…

More and more clients are convinced that the walk-to-work approach has an advantage over helicopter transportation. Having a work-to-work vessel in the field means no more delayed or canceled flights due to bad weather, more hands-on tool time and no more need for the investment in helicopter platforms and facilities. Having a gangway, like an avio bridge, deployed therefore means efficient maintenance and crew changes on planned basis where the helicopter remains invaluable in emergency response and rescue operations.

W2W vs Helicopter

W2W is safer
Accidents with helicopters, social distancing impossible

W2W is more efficient
Helicopter check-in times, working hours, tools not permitted, delays and cancellations

W2W is cheaper
Average estimated cost reduction of 50%

Medivac

Safety has our highest priority.

The Safeway products carry a class approval for Medivac operations. The mechanical structure permits the passage of three persons plus a stretcher through the gangway in case of a medical evacuation. Special care is taken here to allow the safe passage of a person to the onboard hospital facilities. As part of the project preparations the best route on the vessel is determined as well as practiced during a Medivac safety drill onboard.
